Calling of Ramadhan

The ‘Calling of Ramadhan’ is an art exhibition contributed by 10 renowned Malaysian artists. Inspired by Raja Azhar’s visit to the Holy Land and in conjunction with the coming of Holy Ramadhan, these contemporary artists are taking up the challenge by using a modern approach to create exciting and captivating artworks to depict and glorify the greatness of Allah. Artworks showcased are based on each artist’s unique interpretation of Ramadhan using different materials and medium while exploring and incorporating colours and textures into their artworks. The collection features modern Arabic calligraphy, abstract paintings, social commentary artworks, drawings and sculptures portraying the spirit of Ramadhan. Thus this exhibition is truly a unique experience providing insight into the mystical month of Ramadhan as seen and felt by the artists.

ABOUT THE GALLERY

Situated in the prestigious ‘golden triangle’ of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Art Case Galleries has established a reputation for its’ innovative selection of local works of art. The collection which is updated constantly, comprises original works in acrylic, oil and watercolour; pen/ink/charcoal drawings; limited edition etchings, mono-prints and screen-prints; contemporary weaving and interesting three-dimensional sculpture pieces. The gallery also carries a unique collection of textural glass works by Raja Azhar Idris.

Works by established artists like Ismail Latiff, Yusof Ghani, Sharifah Fatimah, Khalil Ibrahim , Rafiee Ghani , Azman Hilmi and Raja Azhar (to name just a few) and including those by new and emerging artists, Asmawi Ismail, Ann Samat, Irma Murni, Zuzila Zain, Abd Latif Maulan and Raduan Man can be viewed at Art Case. The gallery offers a personalised service in the installation, display and selection of works and has an established reputation for commissioning works both for the private and corporate sectors. Raja Azhar is a full time artist with an impressive career in fine art, framing skills and restoration spanning almost a quarter of a century. He has resided in Melbourne. Australia where he was awarded a Degree in Fine Art (from the prestigiou Vistorian College of the Arts) and also successfully established his own private art gallery. Raja Azhar's works are tremendously popular particularly his innovative 'impressionism with movement' series. He has participated in numerous exhibitions both locally and abroad. Raja Azhar is the managing director of Art Case Galleries and is currently involved in establishing a new series - works on textural glass.
