Rafiee Ghani’s re-discovery and passion for painting in the oil medium has defined a more refreshing approach to his brand new body of works. The artist’s rich palette of bold colours does not fail to capture the essence and liveliness of his surroundings. Ultimately, it is this apparent skill for colour composition which distinguishes Rafiee’s artistic flair. His nostalgic reminiscences of a bygone childhood spent, growing up, on the peaceful, mysterious and sometimes treacherous East Coast pervades throughout the collection. Hence, the apt title “Storm Boy” - personifying the fun, naivety, eagerness, innocence and zest for life which Rafiee has experienced during his memorable childhood.
